The 2005 version of the red blend from Piedra Creek Winery proves to be another outstanding wine! This vintage is a blend of 58% Lagrein, 34% Merlot and 8% Petite Syrah. The Lagrein is a red grape from the Alto Adige region in Northern Italy. The dark earthy flavor with bittersweet fruit dominates the blend, which is softened by a ripe Merlot and a velety Petite Syrah.
Cool down these hot summer days with a refreshing chilled wine. Gifts Gone Gourmet offers several wonderful Rosé wines from which to choose.
From Pipestone Vineyards we have a French style Rosé. It is made with 100% Grenache grapes, has a deep red color and is full flavored. This 2005 vintage is bone dry, so serve it well chilled. It has a balanced crispness and fruitiness, a touch of spiciness, and aromas of ripe strawberries, peaches, and raspberries. Serve it chilled with a BBQ or anything spicy.
We offer the Thunderbolt Junction 2005 dry Rosé which has a strawberry flavor and a hint of honeydew melon. It is a blend of 68% Grenache, 24% Mourvedre, and 8% Syrah. They suggest this wine is best accompanied by spicy cuisine, perfect for Peking Duck, Jerk Chicken, Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese Dressing and Thai spicy Coconut Shrimp.
Our Costa de Oro 2005 Rosé is made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes. It is made from juice taken out of the fermenter after one day and put into neutral French oak barrels for fermentation. Malolactic acid was blocked keeping this wine fresh and lively. Strawberry/citrus fruit with Asian spices on the nose. Smooth texture and a lingering finish make this Rosé an appealing wine for both novice and serious wine consumers.
Congratulations to 'Homestead Olive Ranch' who has again won a GOLD MEDAL at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition! Their exceptional extra virgin olive oil is made from Mission olives. It is pungent, with a bold, leafy green and grassy flavor, and a distinct herbal note. 'Homestead Olive Ranch' is located in Templeton, California, in the heart of the Central Coast region. Use this oil for brushetta: for pasta dressed with nothing but oil, garlic and cheese: for strong salads such as spinach, arugula and watercress; as a garnish drizzled over bean soups. You will find it among the outstanding collection of olive oils from Gifts Gone Gourmet.
